It's been seven years since we launched our Looney Tunes tree -- seven fun-filled years of crafting new ornaments! At last count, I have created somewhere around 150 handmade originals, that are proudly displayed alongside the commercial ornaments on the tree.

I will add photos at each Christmastime to showcase the new additions.

You will notice the many pearl drop icicles on the tree. I didn't want to use tinsel icicles as I do on my main tree, because I can't lock the cats out of the room where it stands. It's amazing how many it takes to make a strong visual impression -- there are currently over 120 of these pearl drops on the tree, and there's still room for more.

I made the drops from 8mm fused-bead garland, which I cut into individual lengths of 13 beads each. With a tiny drill bit in my Dremel tool, I drilled a hole in one end of each drop and inserted a small loop of wire, held in place with a drop of tacky glue. Each pearl icicle is suspended from the tree with an ornament hook. As you can imagine, this whole process is quite fiddly, so I didn't make all the drops at one sitting.

As an alternative, my sister suggested that I cut the segments twice as long and simply drape them over a hook or even directly over the tree branches. That would work too if you didn't want to go to the trouble of drilling the tiny holes.
